UPDATE 10.00 pm: CCTV footage has emerged regarding the tragic road accident at Mlolongo Toll Station along Nairobi Expressway. The National Police Service (NPS) has confirmed that about twenty people were injured.

The video seen by Viral Tea captured the matatu speeding towards the exit but it was too late for it to break as it tossed the moving Toyota Prado, sending it tumbling over to the ground alongside the Prado.

"The matatu rammed a stationary Prado from the rear and rolled severally. As a result of the accident, about twenty people are injured while the extensive damage has  led to a blockage of the expressway," noted the NPS.

Here is the video:

A Nairobi matatu has been involved in an accident along the Nairobi Expressway at Mlolongo Toll Station, the second accident to occur at the spot in just one week.

Photos and videos seen by Viral Tea showed the scene of the accident that involved an Embassava Sacco matatu and a personal vehicle.

From the wreckage, the front number plate could be seen separately lying on the ground with the rest of the bus lying flat on its left hand side. The toll booth was destroyed in the crash.

The accident which occurred during rush hour left several people nursing injuries and both vehicles toppled over.

Reports indicate that both vehicles were on the exit lane of the expressway at the time. The Public Service Vehicle (PSV) had crashed into the toll booth, injuring an attendant who was inside.

Viral Tea understands that the toll booth was closed and traffic directed to exit at the Syokimau toll station.

"Motorists are notified of an accident that has occurred along the Nairobi Expressway at the Mlolongo Toll Station, involving a PSV mini-bus. Multiple injuries have been reported, and traffic police are attending to the scene.

"Motorists are advised to exit/enter the Expressway at the Syokimau Toll Station, even as rescue efforts are underway at the scene of accident," the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) reported.

On Saturday night,June 25, one person was killed and several others injured following an accident on the same spot.

"The motorist crashed into the Toll plaza and ran over other vehicles that were being cleared to exit. Consequently, the vehicle knocked one toll booth and injured one toll attendant besides the other motorists," KeNHA revealed at the time.

CCTV footage surfaced the following day capturing the tragic accident which had appeared to have been caused by speeding on the part of the deceased driver who approached the toll station at a very high speed.
