Embakasi East Member of Parliament Paul Ongili, alias Babu Owino has been set free after he shot Felix Orinda alias DJ Evolve at a club in Kilimani, Nairobi in January 2020.
The ruling was delivered on Tuesday, December 14 after the court allowed the withdrawal of the case by DJ Evolve.

However, the lawmaker will be prosecuted in the second count for behaving in a disorderly manner while carrying a firearm.
Babu’s last involvement with DJ Evolve’s family was when he penned a message of condolence to the members who lost their matriarch Mary Hongo back in September.
He noted that they had met each other through a difficult situation but had grown very close.
“Mum you were a mother to me, and a friend. We were united through a difficult situation, we had grown so close but God has His own reasons why this had to happen. As a family, we are deeply saddened by your loss. You are forever loved and treasured” he noted in part.
The MP sympathised with DJ Evolve, praying to God to grant him and his family strength during the difficult time.
“We shall continue holding together and ensure your legacy lives on forever. To my friend Felix and your family I cannot begin to imagine what you are going through. May God grant you peace, strength and comfort to go through this difficult moment in your lives.
“Mum You always told us to be strong no matter how big the storm is and to always put God first. Rest In Peace Mum till we meet again,” he added.
Mary Hongo had taken care of his son following the incident where he was shot by the lawmaker following an altercation at B Club, which is located in the Kilimani area.
The court in March 2021 had ordered the disclosure of an out-of-court agreement that was made between the two.
DJ Evolve had applied to withdraw the attempted murder case against Babu Owino after he was charged over the matter.
“Unconditional withdrawal is not appropriate in the circumstances of this case; the parties must come out openly and tell the court what Babu had offered the family,” the magistrate had ruled at the time.
