Oliech termed the recent move by CS Amina to select the committee after disbanding the federation led by embattled president Nick Mwendwa as one that has worsened the state of Kenyan football.
Retired Harambee Stars player, Dennis Oliech, has roasted the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) caretaker committee constituted by Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed.
Taking to his Facebook page on Wednesday, November 17, Oliech termed the recent move by CS Amina to select the committee after disbanding the federation led by embattled president Nick Mwendwa as one that has worsened the state of Kenyan football.
Terming how the country’s football has been through in turbulent times, Oliech had hoped that the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) would salvage the situation but the move has seen it on a collision course with the world football body which has since threatened to ban the country if the Ministry of Sports did not reinstate the FKF officials it sent home.

Oliech also noted that the Confederation of African Football (CAF), which had backed FIFA’s statement did not make things any easier.
“In the recent past, the football managing body in Kenya has been through rough times, with the appointment of the committee by the sports CS making it even worse. Hoping that FIFA would rescue us, it made things even harder to resuscitate the already worse situation.
“Neither did CAF however, they had their options ready. Should the CS accommodate them in the committee? That’s the million-dollar question that lay in the desk of madam CS. Do we need a ban or Not?” he posed.
He further questioned her decision to appoint some of the members known in other circles instead of former football players who have the capability to bring the fierce spirit, glory and love of the sport back to the country.
“Let it be known that it’s not too late to engage former players and we are willing to uplift our football to the former glory that it once had. We have the passion, knowledge and experience to be part of the committee. Football is us. The choice is yours madam CS, the fans and footballers have suffered enough,” he urged.
The names in the committee were received negatively by football fans across the country who felt that more qualified people who better understood the sport in Kenya were better placed to take those roles.
Among the names in the caretaker committee that annoyed netizens was KTN News anchor Linda Oguttu, who was picked to lead the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) caretaker committee and will serve as the head of the secretariat.
Their alternative option was NTV sports presenter and famed radio host Carol Radull, whose love for local and international football as well as her expertise has won the hearts of many over the years.
Radull did explain that she was approached by the Ministry of Sports officials regarding the position but her curiosity proved to be her ultimate undoing.
Meanwhile, the saga surrounding Mwendwa has been a headline topic for the past few days. Following his arrest on Friday, November 12, he was arraigned in court to face graft charges.
The government was on Wednesday, November 17 issued with an ultimatum of one week to prosecute Mwendwa, failure to which his case will be closed.
