DPP Haji May Have Hinted At His Favourite Football Team (VIDEO)

Speaking to KBC on Wednesday, November 24, Haji had expressed his love for the English Premier League (EPL), touted as the world’s biggest and best football league.

The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji may have teased his favourite football team while revealing his love for the sport in favour of other sports such as golf.

Speaking to KBC on Wednesday, November 24, Haji had expressed his love for the English Premier League (EPL), touted as the world’s biggest and best football league.

When asked about his favourite football team, the DPP played cagey with his team of choice, noting that it was neither Arsenal nor Manchester United, two clubs which are popular amongst Kenyans for many years.

“I do play football but I am not a die-hard fan either. My team is currently performing badly but we are praying,” he stated as he burst into laughter.

Based on current form, Manchester United have been on a poor run domestically, with a win, a draw and four defeats in the last six games. Arsenal, in contrast, have been on a resurgence having registered two draws and three wins before their thumping 4-0 loss to Liverpool.

United then responded to their latest 4-1 battering by Watford by sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer almost a day later. Michael Carrick took charge of the club’s 2-0 win at Villareal in the UEFA Champions League.

They face their season’s toughest test when they travel to table-topping Chelsea on Sunday, November 28, who ran riot in a 4-0 win against Juventus on Tuesday, November 23 before hosting the Gunners in a midweek clash on Tuesday, December 2.

Meanwhile Haji disclosed that he did not have any affiliations to golf while growing up. Golf is a sport that is associated with the elite in class as well as senior government officials and at some point, former President Mwai Kibaki was a big fan of golf.

Haji shot down the sport in amusement by stating that it involved grown-ups running after a small ball and that he would rather play football at home.

“I don’t play golf because I am an ordinary person. Chasing a small ball as a grown-up? I would rather stay at home and play football there.

“You know I learned in Nyahururu DEB primary, so I am just an ordinary person. So those things of golf I do not know. I usually watch it on TV and I wonder why grown-ups would follow such a small ball. Football has a bigger ball,” he revealed.

He added that he prefers playing football during his free time and picked swimming in favour of golf.

“I would prefer playing football or swimming. Golf? Aiiiiiiii,” he replied.

In terms of his time as Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), he stated that he has a term to finish up, but he assured that he is ready to leave office if found of incompetence and will do so gracefully.

“If the President sets up a tribunal and the tribunal finds that I have to leave, I am a man of God and believe that God has better plans for me. If PSC feels that I have to go, I cannot be in this seat forever. I recognize that, that’s why I have a term and the term will end,” he noted.
