Eddie Butita Needs Ksh3.9M For Wife Material Job- Eric Omondi

Comedian Eric Omondi is seeking the services of his counterpart and scriptwriter Eddie Butita for a behind-the-scenes role in the upcoming third season of the viral entertainment show Wife Material.

He took to Instagram on Tuesday, October 12 to beg Butita to respond to his many phone calls over the offer as the latter has been ghosting him, despite being close friends.

He castigated Butita for redirecting his calls to his team instead of responding to him directly.

“Eddie Butita is not only a very good friend of mine but I consider him my bro. But when he starts saying that I should talk to his team pick my calls, why would you send me to your manager and yet we can talk and do business," he exposed.

He affirmed that he was not going through any financial issues and was only reaching out to Butita for his professional services. This is as he blasted him for being proud after landing a bumper deal with international video-streaming platform Netflix to have his self-produced comedy featured on the platform.

"We are not financially affected, we are only calling upon you to offer your professional services or because Netflix has got to your head? Pick my calls bro. The Show begins next week Tuesday and we need you," he urged.

Omondi further disclosed that he was ready to pay Butita a tune of about Ksh3.9 million ($35,000) and any more that might be required.

"You've asked for 35,000 USD which is roughly Ksh3.9 million and we are willing to pay even more," he declared.

Butita had earlier on insisted to Omondi that he should reach out to his management to strike the deal.

"As I told you earlier my team has insisted the rate is USD35,000 upfront because you are our friend. Tell your management to do the honours," he advised while sharing a video of Omondi's interview with YouTuber Eve Mungai.

Butita was the main reason behind the success of the first season of the Wife Material show, which drew widespread conversation across the country during its launch in November 2020. However, the comedian dropped out following the end of the first season, which led to a failed second season which also brought him at loggerheads with the law, particularly former Kenya Film and Classification Board (KFCB) CEO Ezekiel Mutua.

The self-proclaimed President of Comedy in Africa took to Instagram on Monday, October 11 to announce the return of the popular show from Tuesday, October 19.

The third season will feature contestants drawn from five African nations; Kenya, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Rwanda and South Sudan. Aspiring contestants had begun submitting their videos to the comedian for consideration of participation by the time of publication.
