A man who was believed to be of Asian origin was seen in the clip gifting Nick a chain by wrapping it around his neck amidst cheers from guests who had arrived to celebrate his 30th birthday.

Deputy President William Ruto's son, Nick Ruto, has addressed a video of his birthday that circulated social media platforms and sent netizens on overdrive.

A man who was believed to be of Asian origin was seen in the clip gifting Nick a chain by wrapping it around his neck amidst cheers from guests who had arrived to celebrate his 30th birthday.

The video ignited all manner of reactions with a majority of netizens questioning his sexual orientation.

Nick in a Facebook post on Monday, September 13 clarified that he was not in a relationship with the guy that gifted him the necklace.

He affirmed that gifting someone or being gifted by a person of the same gender or different gender does not amount to a relationship.

He further advised his followers to build their circles around people who value friendships and appreciate each other during their special occasions 

"Build your circle and celebrate each other. If you can, gift your friends the best you can on their special occasions like Birthdays, Anniversaries, weddings, etc.

"This will help you understand the value of friendship and comprehend that gifting a friend of the same or opposite gender does NOT amount to an erotic relationship. Thank you all for your birthday wishes and gifts," Nick Ruto wrote.

Nick had shared a social media post celebrating his milestone on turning 30, praising how stronger and wiser he has grown as an individual.

"Today I'm celebrating my birthday... Growing strong and wise...3rd floor is sweet," he wrote.

Nick was born on September 9, 1991, and he is the eldest son in a family of six, including an adopted daughter. He has always kept himself off the public eye and before the viral video, he has been engaging in activities that champion youths' rights and empowerment through different forums.

Nick is not shy of spending his family millions and has on several occasions been spotted having fun in various popular Nairobi joints and others across the country. According to reports, he has often been spotted partying with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s son, Muhoho Kenyatta.

In September 2020, Nick and his friends spent time at the Lake Bogoria Spa Resort, a luxurious resort located in Baringo County, and associated with the family of late former President Mzee Daniel Arap Moi.

Nick is a lawyer by profession and was among 223 graduands admitted to the bar as Advocates of the High Court of Kenya in 2018 by Chief Justice (Rtd.) David K. Maraga.

He has previously been spotted at political rallies in the company of several politicians including Elgeyo Marakwet Senator, Kipchumba Murkomen, and Starehe Member of Parliament, Charles Njagua.

Just like his father, the 30-year-old lawyer has been a regular at church fundraisers and several other Harambees over the years. He has invested in engaging with youth from across the country in championing DP Ruto’s political agenda, as the country gears up for the 2022 general elections.
