Jacob Ghost Mulee Fired As Harambee Stars Coach

In a statement by the Football Kenya Federation, Ghost left the club alongside his assistant Twahir Muhiddin and goalkeeping coach Haggai Azande.

Kenyan football national team Harambee Stars has announced that it has parted ways with head coach Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulee.

In a statement by the Football Kenya Federation, Ghost left the club alongside his assistant Twahir Muhiddin and goalkeeping coach Haggai Azande.

William Muluya and Ken Odhiambo will remain part of the technical bench as FKF embark on their search for the next coach.

The changes take effect immediately.

“FKF is immensely grateful to Coach Mulee and his departing members of staff for their dedicated service and workmanship. The federation wishes them all the best in their future endeavors,” FKF CEO Barry Otieno said in a statement.

Muluya and Odhiambo will work to reconstruct the Harambee Stars technical bench, ahead of the 2022 Qatar World Cup qualifiers against Mali, scheduled for October 6, 2021 and October 12, 2021, home and away respectively.

FKF added that the announcement regarding the national team’s new head coach will be made shortly in that regard.

Mulee, who was reappointed to the National Team in October 21, 2020, making a comeback to the team for the first time in over a decade, failed to take the team to the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations set for Cameroon.

Up to the time he was fired, he recorded only three wins out of the six matches he has been in charge for the Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier and the FIFA 2022 World Cup Qualifier.

The latest result was a back-to-back draw in the Qatar World Cup Qualifier, drawing 0-0 at home with neighbors Uganda before settling for a 1-1 draw with Rwanda away in Kigali.

Mulee will always be famously remembered for guiding Harambee Stars to the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia.

Apart from the National team, Ghost has also had stints with FKFPL side Tusker FC, APR of Rwanda and Yanga SC of Tanzania.

The football tactician also hosts a morning show alongside former musician Gidi Ogidi (Gidi Gidi). The show is famous for the segment Patanisho (reunion) where conflicting couples and lovebirds are reunited.
