Kimunya Must Go- Kiambaa Residents At Polling Station (VIDEO)

The residents were heard chanting the phrase ‘Kimunya Must Go’ which was popularised in 2009 by then Ikolomani MP Boni Khalwale.

Residents of Kiambaa Constituency, Kiambu County expressed their displeasure concerning National Assembly Majority Leader Amos Kimunya at Kimuga Polling Station as the constituency by-elections kicked off on Thursday, July 15.

The residents were heard chanting the phrase ‘Kimunya Must Go’ which was popularised in 2009 by then Ikolomani MP Boni Khalwale.

In a video seen by Viral Tea, the voters who had trooped to Kimuga voting station confronted Kimunya, demanding to know the reason he showed up at the station.

According to the residents, Kimunya was neither a voter nor an agent for Jubilee Party, who fielded their candidate for the by-elections and his presence was an attempt to influence its outcome.

Kimunya however stood his ground and told the residents that he was an agent for the Jubilee candidate Kariri Njama.

“What is he doing here? Let him leave,” voices in the crowd say before chants begin calling for him to leave.

The Kiambaa constituency by-election was carried out following the death of two-term member of parliament Paul Koinange in March 2021.

The polls have provided another chance for Deputy President William Ruto’s allied UDA Party to go head to head with the ruling Jubilee Party headed by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Jubilee is facing an uphill task to redeem itself after several losses in the president’s home ground that have left a sour taste in the mouth of the party.

It suffered a big blow after the Juja constituency by-election saw its candidate lose to George Koimburi of PEP, a party led by Moses Kuria who is an ally of DP Ruto.
