Mohammed Salah's Demands Ahead of Visit to Nairobi

Liverpool forward Mohammed Salah has raised many eyebrows after he issued a list of demands ahead of his visit to Nairobi, Kenya on Tuesday, March 23.

Reports have indicated that the Egyptian winger demanded his national team to accord him a private hotel suite in the city at a cost of Ksh40,000 a night.

According to officials at Liverpool FC, this is to prevent the player from contracting COVID-19 from his teammates.

The officials asserted that they would not be taking chances to ensure the certain safety of their mega superstar as he was infected with the virus during his last international tour.

Media reports have further revealed that the Egyptian team will stay at the Hilton Hotel in Nairobi, famous for hosting high-profile celebrities such as actress Angelina Jolie, musician Sean Paul, sixth UN Secretary-General Boutros-Ghali among others.

In addition, Salah asked for a specific diet, approved by his personal doctor, and requested an express airport pickup and transfer to his hotel room.

Many Kenyans have since questioned the star's demands while others believed that they were fit for a football player touted amongst Europe's best.

"He's coming here to play for Egypt, not leisure"

"He's worth it. That's a football star. You don't expect him to sleep in some bedbug-infested backstreet lodging".

"That's 10 months' worth of rent!"

"That's the Presidential Suite at Nairobi or the Aga Khan Hospitals", read a section of comments from Kenyans online.

Egypt's the Pharaohs will take on the Harambee Stars for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani on Thursday, March 25.

Salah was last seen in Kenya in 2019 for a surprise visit while on transit, but a photo that surfaced online of the player at Hilton Garden Inn along Mombasa Road in Nairobi went viral.

Salah is currently the joint-top scorer in the English Premier League (PL) with 17 goals alongside Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane. He has a Premier League title to his name as well as a UEFA Champions League winners medal.

Salah earns a monthly salary of Ksh125million, the highest paid to any Liverpool player.
