In a video shared to his Facebook account on Saturday, July 24, Kuria seems to have settled with newly-formed Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) as his party of choice as the 2022 General Elections draw closer.

Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has announced his new home in form of a political party following his ouster from People’s Empowerment Party (PEP).

In a video shared to his Facebook account on Saturday, July 24, Kuria seems to have settled with newly-formed Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) as his party of choice as the 2022 General Elections draw closer.

The video shows the party flexing its muscles to open offices across the country in major counties. It is headquartered at Kileleshwa, Nairobi and has recently opened branches in various parts of the country including Nyeri, Kakamega, Bungoma, Murang’a among others.

The newly formed political vehicle’s slogan “Kazi na Pesa” may have drawn inspirations from United Democratic Alliance (UDA)’s “Kazi ni Kazi”. Kuria had expressed interest in joining his allies at UDA but opted to settle for Chama Cha Kazi instead.

According to the party website, CCK aims to provide the country with participatory governance where home grown solutions on matters affecting the community are encouraged.

“To become a political tool for empowerment of politically marginalized and voice of the voiceless in the highly competitive political world,” the party vision states.

Kuria announcement seems to have effectively ended any last-minute chances of salvaging his broken relationship with PEP.

On July 23, PEP national chairman Watson Simiyu admitted to having differed with Kuria on various fundamental aspects of the party but had scheduled a meeting for Monday, July 26 to come to an agreement.

“We had issues after the Juja and Gaturi by-elections which we are trying to sort out. We have a meeting on Monday which we have invited him to attend to try to iron out the problem,” Simiyu told a local daily.

It is alleged that the Kuria had demanded to be allocated more positions across the party, something the other leaders didn’t take lying down.

It also emerged that the party plotted to produce a presidential candidate from Western Kenya in 2022, something Kuria also complained of.

Kuria also allegedly wanted the party to change its name to CCK as well as its slogan to sit with that of Ruto’s UDA.

The MP also advised President Uhuru Kenyatta to stay away from the 2022 Presidential elections, giving a case study of former President Mwai Kibaki who left office to retire after two terms (10 years) in power to pave way for the next man to ascend to the top seat.
