Nairobi GSU Officer Missing

A General Service Unit (GSU) officer attached to the Ruaraka headquarters in Nairobi has been reported missing.

The officer was last seen on Friday, July 9, according to a police report seen by Viral Tea.

Caroline Odhiambo, the wife of Corporal Joseph Otieno, had filed a missing person's report at the Kasarani Police Station in Nairobi on Sunday, July 11.

Caroline stated that she lost contact with her 36-year-old husband at 11.13hrs on the day he disappeared.

"Efforts to trace him have been in vain since his phone was switched off and whereabouts unknown. His phone signal was last tracked to Naivas supermarket in Ruaraka," the occurrence book (OB) report under number OB 23/11/7/2021 read.

A vehicle earlier hired by Otieno was recovered, though abandoned in Mwiki within Kasarani sub-county.

Efforts to trace him were launched by a multi-agency team consisting of detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the GSU.

"Today (Monday, July 12) marks our second day. The search mission around Mwiki Gituamba farm where last car track signal is traced.

"GSU officers are expected to join in the search," continued the report.

A notice was immediately issued to all police stations in Nairobi, directing their officers to keep a sharp look out as well as assist where necessary and if traced inform authorities.

The missing officer adds to a growing list of Kenyans going missing and being kidnapped countrywide. The police in Nairobi have a full plate on their hands as they also seek to unravel the mystery behind the disappearance of former Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) commander Mwenda Mbijiwe.

Mbijiwe went missing on Thursday, June 17, with his family alleging that a DCI officer disguised as a driver was also reported missing. He was used to get to the ex-soldier by unidentified individuals.

The military, police, DCI and the National Intelligence Service (NIS) are also hunting down fugitive police officer Caroline Kangogo, accused of murdering two men in 24 hours on a revenge mission.
