OKA Rips Into Daily Nation Over Supporting Raila Odinga

Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Gideon Moi (KANU), and Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya) had opined that the newspaper was vouching for ODM leader Raila Odinga who was invited for the State House discussions on Wednesday, August 18.

The One Kenya Alliance (OKA) has penned a fiery statement aimed at the Daily Nation newspaper over its coverage of President Uhuru Kenyatta hosting meetings at Mombasa State House.

In a statement on Thursday, August 19 seen by Viral Tea, the officials dared the Nation to openly come out and declare their support for Raila Odinga.

They shredded the media house for misinterpreting the facts of the meeting and added that they were not summoned by the President, as had been reported at large.

“Since we started holding consultative meetings with the President, Nation Newspapers have embarked on a crusade to fabricate their own facts of the meetings in favor of one invitee to the meetings and presidential aspirant.”

“We hereby state categorically that our visits to State House aren’t summons to browbeat us into supporting one candidate or the other, as the distorted Nation narratives suggest,” the statement from OKA read in part.

The four principals urged all media houses to report facts and publicly declare their support for any candidate ahead of the 2022 General Elections, as per the international media guidelines.

“If Nation feels strongly about the candidature of any individual, we invite the media house to do the ethical and decent thing; publicly announce its decision to support that individual,” OKA principals remarked.

The publication had claimed that President Kenyatta was edging close to ending differences between Odinga and the OKA principals and vouch for the ODM party leader even as he is yet to declare his ambitions for State House next year.

The publication had further claimed that Uhuru had informed the OKA leaders to dismantle their coalition to form one super alliance set to attract more leaders to strengthen its ammunition ahead of the big battle at the ballot.
