Residents Throw Stones At Jimi Wanjigi (VIDEO)

The ODM politician who is contesting party leader Raila Odinga for the presidential ticket had to cut short his speech and zoom out of Migori town on day two of his Nyanza tour.

His meeting was cancelled after a section of delegates accused him of disrespecting Raila Odinga.

Addressing residents while in his motorcade, Wanjigi was not expecting the jeers and heckling from a rowdy group that would thereafter start hurling stones at him.

His tour of the Nyanza region has also hit rocky roads. On Thursday, September 16, Wanjigi’s Homa Bay visit was marred by chaos after youth from the area had tried to force entry into the contained meeting.

Homa Bay youths had stormed the meeting called by Wanjigi as he was on the campaign trail for 2022.

Security had been in place, ensuring those accessing the venue would maintain order as well as social distancing protocols.

However, the group was too strong for the team that was at the door and had forced their way into the venue that was already full of delegates from the ODM party.

Organizers could not uphold guidelines by the Ministry of Health due to the chaotic nature of the delegates and youth.

Wanjigi is in Raila’s backyard to popularise his presidential bid and mobilise residents to register as members of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

The presidential hopeful was initially welcomed by an enthusiastic crowd and delegates who promised to back his bid for State House.

Wanjigi has been popularising himself among Kenyans as he seeks their endorsement for the top seat in the country. He recently broke ground into the entertainment industry, winning the hearts of comedian Eric Omondi by gifting him a Chrysler Crossfire worth up to Ksh2 million before tax.
