An announcement by American singer, actress, fashion designer, and businesswoman Rihanna that she will launch her Fenty Beauty and Fenty Skin products in Kenya took the whole country by storm.

The Umbrella hitmaker took to her social media handles on Tuesday, May 10 to announce that the products will be released in the country on May 27, 2022, alongside other African countries.

Sources have revealed to Viral Tea that the products will be available on that date across Lintons Beauty World shops, with the Lintons brand partnering with the beauty mogul, who has been recently stunning with her baby bump shoots, to stock the Fenty Products in the country.

Lintons is a leading beauty brand in East Africa, founded in 2008 by Dr Joyce Gikunda and Edward Gikunda. Lintons is on a mission to impact the lives of Africans through beauty.

Lintons Beauty World has 30 shops across Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kampala (Uganda) among others offering top of the line skincare, colour cosmetics, luxury fragrance and day-spa experience.

Through these shops, Lintons not only houses global brands such as Estee Lauder, Clinique, MAC, Clarins, Lancome, Chanel and Dior but also offers a platform to upcoming local brands and manufacturers to reach a fast-growing consumer base.

Lintons Trade business exclusively distributes global brands in the skin, colour, fragrance and hair categories such as SheaMoisture, Black Opal, Note Cosmetics, Adopt, L’Occitane, Nimue, Bio Balance to big-box retailers, salons, pharmacies and spas across the region.

The brand also has an academy which is an industry-focused, Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) accredited beauty college that upskills aspiring beauty professionals, graduates, professional makeup artists, therapists and discerning customers at its unique training facility in Westlands, Nairobi.

“The Academy bridges the gap to the industry by facilitating placements & practicums to large retailers and brands,” the company’s official website explains.

Kenyan cosmetic influencers and business persons are set to benefit the most from the arrival of the Fenty products into the country.

Forbes magazine in 2021 had announced that the 33-year-old singer was a billionaire, putting her worth at $1.7 billion (Ksh197 billion) at the time. This made her the wealthiest female musician and the second-richest woman in entertainment after Oprah Winfrey.

The cosmetics brand, which Rihanna launched on September 8, 2017, became an instant hit owing to its broad inclusivity across skin tones and gender.

Fenty Beauty made Ksh8.4 billion (US$72 million) in earned media value during its first month, beating other high-end brands such as Kylie Cosmetics by Kylie Jenner, Benefit, Urban Decay, KKW Beauty by Kim Kardashian and NYX. Also in the brand’s first month, Fenty Beauty-related content received 132 million views on YouTube.

The whole company is worth approximately Ksh324.9 billion (US$2.8 billion), 50 per cent of which is owned by Rihanna, who is its CEO.
