Safaricom Services To Be Disrupted For 10 Hours

In a notice, the telecommunications company stated that all Bonga points services, balance enquiry, and product purchases will also be unavailable during that period

Safaricom subscribers will be yet again without the services of Tunukiwa, Okoa Jahazi among others during the telco’s scheduled upgrade from Saturday, August 21 at 10 pm to Sunday, August 22 at 8 am.

In a notice, the telecommunications company stated that all Bonga points services, balance enquiry, and product purchases will also be unavailable during that period. Postpaid and home fibre payments will not be spared.

Other services such as calls, data, M-PESA, and SMS will however continue working as usual.

The service provider further apologized to its customers in case of any inconvenience that might be caused. It added that the upgrade of its systems was meant to cause the least possible interruptions hence being scheduled at night.

Safaricom has been introducing enticing offers since its inception in 1993 to improve its services for millions of its subscribers. It recently launched the MPESA Super App which allows users an alternative option of accessing MPESA on their smartphones offline.

The new Super App allows customers to complete transactions even without data bundles or when totally offline.

In March 2021, the service provider announced the launch of trials for the 5G technology for its customers- becoming the first operator in East Africa to launch the 5G technology.

The successor to 4G is expected to triple internet and browsing speeds for customers at more efficient rates.
