Ugandans’ Excitement After Uhuru Shares Drink With Museveni’s Son

The photo was shared on Thursday, September 30 by Kainerugaba via his Twitter account showing the two in Nairobi, where he paid the Head of State a visit.

A section of Ugandans were elated after a photo surfaced showing President Uhuru Kenyatta hanging out with Uganda’s Commander of Land Forces (CLF), Lieutenant General, Muhoozi Kainerugaba who is also President Yoweri Museveni’s son.

The photo was shared on Thursday, September 30 by Kainerugaba via his Twitter account showing the two in Nairobi, where he paid the Head of State a visit.

“I was honoured to visit my elder, my big brother and my hero recently in Nairobi. President Uhuru is an inspiration to many of us across East Africa and Africa!” he wrote.

The location of their meeting in the city was however not disclosed.

The Ugandans took to the comments to praise Uhuru in their numbers, expressing their optimism that Kainerugaba would become Uganda’s next President after his father. It would bear similarities to when Uhuru became Kenya’s president following the footsteps of his father and the founding father of Kenya, the late Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.

“Thank you Greatest General for ensuring a good relationship between Uganda’s long time friend; President Uhuru. Indeed nobody can stop reggae,” one Ugandan netizen wrote in reference to the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), whose reggae was stopped by the Court of Appeal.

“A smile of our great statesmen. God bless our incoming President Gen MK. God bless President Uhuru Kenyatta,” another added.

Kenyans were however nitpicky, with many of them surprised by the presence of the water bottles on the table, given Uhuru’s perceived love for alcoholic drinks.

“We all know that the water on the table was for photo purposes… There’s no way you two can take water,” one Kenyan commented.

According to reports by Ugandan media, Lt Gen Kainerugaba was in Nairobi for a stopover on his way back from Somalia.

He was in Somalia from September 23 to September 27, 2021, where he met Ugandan troops that were involved in ongoing operations against the terrorist group Al-Shabaab with the aim of restoring peace and stability in the country.

“The purpose of my visit is to commend the troops for the great work they are doing in Somalia. Secondly, it is to talk to them and get a feel of the problems and challenges they are facing,” said Lt. Gen. Kainerugaba.

Museveni’s son has been raving about President Uhuru Kenyatta and shared a photo of him back in August in full praise of Kenya’s fourth Head of State.

“Afande Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta. President of Kenya and a very great man. Nobody can stop reggae! God bless him,” Kainerugaba captioned.
