National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has revoked the appointment of former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati as Chairperson of the Public Service Superannuation Fund Board of Trustees.

In a Gazette notice, CS Mbadi announced that Wangamati’s tenure as chair ended effective June 27.

''In exercise of the powers conferred by section 10 (1) (a) of the Public Service Superannuation Scheme Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, the Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Economic Planning revokes the appointment of Wycliffe Wafula Wangamati,'' the notice reads in part.

The former Bungoma Governor had been appointed to chair the Board of Trustees on June 8, 2024, by then National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Prof. Njuguna Ndung'u, with a three-year term.

"The Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Economic Planning appoints Wycliffe Wafula Wangamati to be the Chairperson of the Public Service Superannuation Fund Board of Trustees, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 7th June, 2024," the gazette notice read at the time.

However, CS Mbadi did not disclose the reasons for revoking Wangamati’s appointment. This revocation comes amid a wave of leadership changes across various government boards.

For instance, ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo recently appointed two members — Lucy Minayo Lugatia and Anthony Nzau Musau — to the Complaints Commission for a three-year term, effective May 25.

In addition to changes at the Cabinet level, several governors have made appointments within their counties. Busia Governor Paul Otuoma named five members to the Busia County Rural and Urban Affordable Housing Committee, to be chaired by Seth Harrison Wetoyi Adams.

Christopher Magero Shanyuma, Wilberforce Joe Ochuka, Rose Mulaa Osama, Everlyne Teresiah Mbingi, and Vincent Charles Wanjala will serve as committee members.

Otuoma also appointed Peter Khasamule Odima, John Muroki, and Timothy Odhiambo Odende to serve respectively as Acting County Executive Committee Member for Education and Industrial Skills Development, and Acting Chief Officer for Revenue.

Meanwhile, Marsabit Governor Mohamud Ali designated Godfrey Godana and Galm Guyo as Chief Officer of Finance and Chief Officer of Revenue and Resource Mobilisation, respectively, for a three-month term starting June 10.

In Vihiga County, Governor Wilber Ottichilo appointed seven members to an ad hoc committee tasked with reviewing the proposal to upgrade Luanda Town to municipal status.
