Little-Known Kenyan Attractions That Made It To Forbes Exclusive List

Kenya has earned international acclaim after two of its renowned tourist destinations, Solio Lodge and Giraffe Manor, were named in the 2025 Forbes Travel Guide Edge List.
The list, unveiled on Thursday, September 11, featured attractions from only 15 countries worldwide, with Kenya among just two African nations represented.
The prestigious Edge List highlights hotels, resorts, and cruises that push the limits of travel experiences, evaluated on four core principles. Selections were made through on-site reviews by Forbes Travel Guide’s undercover inspectors or editorial team, alongside extensive research and inspection data.
Solio Lodge was recognised in the ‘Animal Encounters’ category for its rare access to Africa’s endangered rhino population. The lodge sits on the 45,000-acre Solio Game Reserve, nestled between Mount Kenya’s foothills and the Aberdare National Park.

“Few encounters are as majestic as the ones you’ll have with East Africa’s endangered rhinoceros,” Forbes noted.
“Solio provides access to more than 200 black and white rhinos. Set out on game drives in the morning, afternoon, or evening with meals in the bush, or see the wildlife from horseback, mountain bike, or the hotel’s private helicopter,” it added.
Meanwhile, Giraffe Manor in Nairobi was highlighted for its unique wildlife experiences, especially its close interactions with Rothschild’s giraffes.
Originally built as a hunting lodge in the 1930s, the manor has since become world-famous for offering guests the chance to share breakfast with the giraffes and feed them, all while enjoying luxury accommodations and a serene environment.
“While staying at this 1930s former hunting lodge in Kenya, there’s no need to head out on safari; one of the continent’s best animal encounters is found at this boutique hotel and giraffe breeding sanctuary,” noted Forbes.
“The resident Rothschild’s giraffes treat bedroom windows like drive-through service, poking their heads in search of the treats guests always have stocked for them. Or have breakfast with the animals; you will enjoy pancakes while they get the pellets you feed them,” Forbes added.
