Free e-Visas For Kenyans Travelling To Morocco For AFCON 2025
The move is aimed at easing travel for supporters from across Africa, including Kenya, as the continent gears up for its biggest football tournament.
Kenyans travelling to Morocco from next month have been handed a relief after the Kingdom announced that it will offer free electronic visas (e-Visas) to football fans planning to attend the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), scheduled to run from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
The announcement was made this week by the Local Organizing Committee in coordination with Moroccan authorities and the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The move is aimed at easing travel for supporters from across Africa, including Kenya, as the continent gears up for its biggest football tournament.
According to the organizers, the free e-Visas will be available to fans who obtain a mandatory Fan ID via the official “Yalla” mobile application. The waiver applies only to ticket holders who purchase their match passes through the app.

Authorities in Morocco say enhanced security and logistical measures are being put in place to manage the expected influx of visitors during the month-long tournament, with the combination of e-visa and Fan ID designed to streamline entry as well as reduce friction, thus making it easy for fans from across Africa and beyond to attend the prestigious tournament.
To ensure a smooth fan experience, at least 15,000 Moroccan volunteers — among them African students residing in the country — are currently undergoing training to assist visitors at stadiums, airports, fan zones, hotels, and public transport hubs.
For Kenyan football enthusiasts hoping to travel for the tournament, the visa waiver presents a significant relief, eliminating one of the major travel costs associated with attending international sporting events.
Although the e-Visa is free, applicants are still required to meet the necessary eligibility criteria, including having a valid passport, a clear photo, and accurate personal details.
Kenyan fans planning to travel for AFCON have been advised to apply early, as delays may occur due to high demand, technical glitches, or incomplete documentation. Ordinarily, Kenyans visiting Morocco would need to apply for a visa valid for at least 30 days, costing between KSh2,500 and KSh4,800.
The upcoming AFCON will mark the 35th edition of the continental tournament, featuring 24 teams competing for Africa’s top football title. Notably, this will be the first AFCON held during the Christmas and New Year season.
Defending champions Ivory Coast are drawn in Group F alongside Cameroon, Gabon, and Mozambique — the latter two seeking their maiden continental trophies.
Matches will take place in nine venues across six Moroccan cities, with hosts Morocco’s Atlas Lions opening the tournament against Comoros at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat.
While Kenya’s Harambee Stars did not qualify for the 2025 tournament, the country will make a return in AFCON 2027 as a co-host, alongside Tanzania and Uganda.
