Govt Advertises Registrar Of Political Parties Post After Ann Nderitu Exit: How To Apply

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has declared a vacancy for the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) position.
This comes merely days after Ann Nderitu, the former Registrar, was appointed and sworn in as a commissioner at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
In a notice issued on Tuesday, July 15, PSC called on eligible candidates to apply. However, applicants must possess a degree from a recognized Kenyan university, along with expertise in finance, management, political science, law, governance, or public administration.
Additionally, candidates need at least 15 years of relevant professional experience, a record of integrity and strong moral character, and compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution.

How To Apply
Candidates interested in either role must submit their application, a detailed CV, copies of their ID or passport, academic and professional certificates, transcripts, testimonials, and any other relevant documents.
Applicants are advised to clearly label their applications as either "Application for Registrar of Political Parties" or "Application for Assistant Registrar of Political Parties," as specified by the PSC.
Submissions can be delivered by hand at the PSC offices on the 4th floor of Commission House, Harambee Avenue, Nairobi. Alternatively, applications can be emailed in PDF format to registrarpp2025@publicservice.go.ke or sent via post to The Secretary/CEO, Public Service Commission, P.O. Box 30095 – 00100, Nairobi.
“A person shall not be qualified for appointment as a Registrar or Assistant Registrar if the person has, at any time within the preceding five years, held office or stood for election as a Member of Parliament or a county assembly or as a member of a governing body of a political party,” PSC added.
The deadline for interested parties to submit their applications is August 5, 2025, at 5:00 P.M.
The Registrar of Political Parties is responsible for registering, regulating, and overseeing political parties to ensure they comply with the Political Parties Act.
Other key duties include managing the Political Parties Fund, publishing audited annual financial reports for political parties, and verifying and publicly sharing official lists of party members.
The Registrar also maintains the official registers of both political parties and their symbols, and the membership lists of registered parties.
Additionally, the role involves overseeing political party nominations as required by law, investigating complaints under the Political Parties Act, and carrying out any other responsibilities assigned by legislation.
The PSC has also advertised the position of Assistant Registrar of Political Parties, who will serve as the Registrar’s deputy.
