Modern Coast Bus Express company has organised alternative means for passengers who had booked to travel with them in January 2023.

In a notice on Sunday, January 1, the company urged the passengers who had booked advance tickets with them for their travels to follow up with the company regarding the date and time they had booked their tickets.

Modern Coast noted that they made arrangements to ensure timely travel for passengers to their respective destinations following the festive season.

"If you had booked advance tickets to travel with us this January, please note that arrangements have been made to enable you to travel to your respective destinations conveniently. Report at our booking and parcel offices near you on the date and time indicated on your ticket.

"For any other enquiries, kindly contact us on 0730 897000 or reach out to us in our Inbox/DM. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused and appreciate your kind understanding," said the bus company.

Modern Coast meanwhile continued appreciating its customers for their support and loyalty, noting that the predicaments they were facing were not permanent.

"Unlike some relationships, our relationship with our customers is like that of Romeo and Juliet. Strong like the great China walls.

"Every year comes with its challenges and wins, and you’ve been with us every step of the way. Whatever 2023 brings, we’ll enjoy it together. The doors which were closed shall be opened," the transport firm stated.

This is despite the firm being involved in a series of road accidents during the festive season which claimed lives.

One of its buses registered with its affiliate company, Oxygen Bus, was involved in a head-on collision along the Ntungamo-Kabale Highway in western Uganda on December 30, 2022, which killed six people and left several injured.

Another accident that occurred on December 28, 2022, in Kisii County claimed the life of a pedestrian and led to several others being injured.

Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen ordered the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) to suspend Modern Coast Bus' operation license.

However, the company assured its customers that it would continue operations along its international routes including Nairobi to Kampala in Uganda, Nairobi to Kigali in Rwanda and Nairobi to Bujumbura in Burundi and vice versa.
