Police in Diani, Kwale County, have initiated the deportation process for Dutch national Elwin Ter Horst, who was caught on video hurling insults and spitting at police officers inside the Diani Police Station.

In the viral footage, Horst is seen shouting at officers before “gobbing and hawking saliva and mucus” at one of them.

According to police reports, Horst had been arrested on Tuesday evening while intoxicated and was set to appear in court to face charges of assault, malicious property damage, creating a disturbance, and possession of narcotics.

Authorities later discovered that his passport had expired, meaning he was residing in Kenya illegally.

Msambweni Police Commander Robinson Langat condemned the incident, warning that “foreign nationals who violate Kenyan laws” will face firm legal consequences.

Horst has since issued an apology, expressing remorse and a desire to remain in Kenya. The Dutchman claimed he had been under severe stress, which led to his loss of composure during the confrontation.

“I had a psychosis; I need my medicine… I did not have water and food for a long time,” Horst said, identifying himself as “Mufasa.”

He has since been escorted to the Kwale Law Courts to face charges related to assault and illegal stay in the country.

According to a police report obtained by Viral Tea, Horst had been arrested after hotel staff raised an alarm about a violent altercation in one of the rooms, where he allegedly assaulted his partner.

Responding officers found that hotel security had already rescued the woman and rushed her to the hospital with injuries.

The Dutch national reportedly barricaded himself inside the room, causing damage before eventually surrendering after a tense standoff.

Officers then subdued and arrested him, later recovering a whitish substance suspected to be narcotic drugs during a search.

At the station, Horst turned hostile again, attacking officers—a moment that was caught on CCTV. Police sources described him as “highly intoxicated and uncooperative.”

Authorities launched a full investigation, stressing that attacking law enforcement officers on duty is a serious offence under Kenyan law.
