Ex-Citizen TV's Mukami Wambora Makes Comeback After 3 Years
Wambora remarked that she was proud to represent both her country and the African continent in the global sports media space as she took on her new role.

Former Citizen TV sports journalist Mukami Wambora has returned to the silver screen after a three-year absence, joining SportyTV, Africa’s leading free-to-air sports broadcaster.
In a Wednesday, September 3 announcement, SportyTV confirmed her appointment, highlighting it as a welcome addition of an African voice to their newsroom. 
"We are excited to welcome our newest journalist to the team. Representing Kenya and the continent of Africa, Mukami Wambora," the outlet announced on its social media platforms.
In response, Wambora remarked that she was proud to represent both her country and the African continent in the global sports media space as she took on her new role.

"I'm really happy to be here, representing my country, Kenya, representing my continent, Africa, and now representing SportyTV," she said.

Wambora studied law, graduating from the University of Liverpool in the UK, then attending the Kenya School of Law before starting as a legal assistant at a local bank. Her true passion, however, was sports. She began by writing football articles and, after acing a voice test, secured her first broadcasting role at Capital FM.
In 2016, she joined Radio Africa’s 24-hour sports channel, Bamba Sports, where she worked as a presenter, producer, and anchor on shows such as Monday Night Football and Sports Zone News. A year later, in 2017, she moved to Citizen TV, anchoring prime-time sports bulletins and appearing as an analyst on Sporty Monday.
Her career has taken her to major global events, including the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, the Berlin Marathon, and the 2019 INEOS Challenge in Austria, where Eliud Kipchoge broke the two-hour marathon barrier.
After leaving Citizen TV, she co-hosted Nation FM’s #SportOn with Bernard Ndong’ and James Wokabi, while also freelancing as a pundit on Homeboyz Radio.
Away from the screen and mic, Wambora was elected Treasurer of the Sports Journalists Association of Kenya in April 2023.
She is also a strong advocate for mental health. Following her 2019 diagnosis, she co-founded Uko Sawa, a platform designed to make counselling and support more accessible.

Two broadcasters have struck a deal to simulcast major leagues—including the English Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, and the Bundesliga—throughout the 2025/26 season. This move opens access to millions of Kenyans without pay-TV subscriptions, giving them the chance to watch elite football on free-to-air stations.
Under the arrangement, SportyTV retains the official broadcasting rights, while TV47 will air the same games simultaneously to expand nationwide coverage.
Additionally, Radio 47 will enhance the experience by providing live commentary and expert insights, catering especially to fans on the go or in regions with poor TV reception.
