Days after announcing that she left CNBC Africa and the newsroom space entirely, popular Kenyan journalist Flora Limukii has announced her next move.

In an update shared via her LinkedIn account and seen by Viral Tea, Limukii revealed that she joined SPIRO, which terms itself as the largest EVs company in Africa and uniquely focused on Africa's clean industrialization through e-mobility technologies.

"I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Head of Public Relations in Africa at SPIRO!," read her update in part.

This move marks her first foray outside the newsroom, and in her new capacity, she will be responsible for managing and shaping SPIRO's public image, reputation, and communication strategies. Her key duties will include:

1. Developing PR Strategies

  • Crafting and executing PR campaigns that align with the company’s goals.
  • Managing crisis communication and reputation management.
  • Ensuring consistent messaging across all media channels.

2. Media Relations

  • Building and maintaining relationships with journalists, media houses, and influencers.
  • Writing and distributing press releases, media statements, and op-eds.
  • Organizing press conferences and media interviews for executives.

3. Internal & External Communication

  • Overseeing communication between the company, SPIRO and the public, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Managing internal communication to ensure employees are aligned with the company’s vision and policies.
  • Handling speeches, newsletters, and corporate reports.

4. Brand & Reputation Management

  • Monitoring public perception and responding to negative publicity.
  • Engaging in corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives to enhance the brand’s reputation.
  • Collaborating with marketing teams to ensure a strong brand presence.

5. Crisis Management

  • Preparing crisis communication plans and responding to potential PR issues.
  • Acting as the company’s spokesperson when necessary.

6. Digital & Social Media Presence

  • Overseeing the company’s social media and online reputation.
  • Coordinating influencer and digital PR campaigns.

7. Event Management

  • Planning corporate events, sponsorships, and partnerships that enhance brand visibility.

In short, Limukii will ensure that the company maintains a positive public image, manages relationships with the media, and handles any communication-related challenges.

On Friday, March 14, she revealed that she was venturing into new environments, bringing to an end a media career that saw her raise the profile of Gen Z journalists in newsrooms, not just in Kenya. 

"Today marks my last day in the Newsroom! Nostalgic. Six years down the line! KBCTukoOpera NewsSwitch TVTV47and CNBC Africa. It’s time to shift from the Newsroom to the Boardroom! It’s been quite a nice ride! Time now for a new challenge," she revealed.

Before her recent announcement, Limukii had been working as a TV presenter and producer at the Kigali, Rwanda-based media house since late 2023. Her role centred on covering developmental and business-focused stories, to elevate African narratives on the global stage.

Beyond television, Limukii is also a writer for Forbes Africa, where she showcases her storytelling expertise.

At CNBC, she built a strong reputation for uncovering and telling compelling stories from often-overlooked sectors, delivering narratives that deeply resonate with audiences. She is recognized for crafting impactful stories that not only inform but also shape public discourse and influence societal conversations.

Before joining CNBC, Limukii worked at TV47 as a news anchor and political reporter, where her engaging presentation style and sharp reporting skills drew significant attention.
