Faith Musembi: Police Arrest Boyfriend Of Murdered Mt Kenya University Student
The student, who is being treated as the main suspect, is reported to have been apprehended after preliminary investigations pointed to his involvement in a love triangle gone sour.

Police in Thika, Kiambu County have arrested a 25-year-old student from Tom Mboya University linked to the murder of his girlfriend, 19-year-old Faith Musembi, who was found dead inside her rented room in Pilot Estate last week.
The student, who is being treated as the main suspect, is reported to have been apprehended after preliminary investigations pointed to his involvement in a love triangle gone sour.
In particular, the two shared a close connection and had an intimate relationship. Both the suspect and the victim hail from Machakos County, with police believing that the main suspect killed Musembi over alleged infidelity.
The slain first-year student at Mt. Kenya University was eight months pregnant at the time of her death and her lifeless body was discovered last week by her father in her rented room in Pilot Estate, Thika.

At the time of the victim's death, police discovered that her placenta was completely detached, causing excessive bleeding, a phenomenon known as abruptio placenta.
The detectives are yet to establish whether the suspect had reasons to question if he was the father of the unborn baby.
"We have the main suspect in custody and are conducting thorough investigations. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations Officer (DCIO) is on the matter and the suspect will be produced in court," Thika Police Boss Lawrence Muchangi informed the press.
The gruesome discovery has left the family in shock, with distress calls for swift justice echoing through Machakos, Thika and beyond. Musembi's parents, devastated by the loss of their daughter and unborn grandchild, are calling for justice.
"We want the authorities to ensure that the person responsible for this heinous act is punished to the fullest extent of the law," said Musembi's father, Boniface Musembi.
How It Happened
The victim's family was contacted by the killer who sought ransom to release their kin. After the family sent Ksh27,000, the killer increased the amount to Ksh60,000, demanding the family to promptly raise the cash if they loved their daughter.
Faith's family visited Thika West Police Station but were disappointed after the officers claimed there was no cause for alarm, and in response, the family chose to visit the university to report the matter.
Additionally, Boniface visited his daughter's house in Pilot Estate only to find her lifeless body lying on the floor.
"We took action and went to her house and broke the lock. Upon gaining access, I was shocked to find my daughter's body lying on the floor," he went on.

Minutes later, police officers arrived at the scene and have since launched investigations to establish what could have transpired.
Transcript of the messages between Musembi's father and her killer:
Father: Your days are numbered. What you did to her is unforgivable.
Attacker: No problem, when my time comes, I will follow suit. You failed to follow simple instructions and chose to do things your way.
Father: All the money sent was not enough?
Attacker: How much is Ksh27,000 and I needed Ksh60,000? The mother was so clever to fool me that she would send it by 8:00 am then when that time came she began to ignore (my texts). The results are right with you
