Julius Migos Ogamba, Cabinet Secretary Nominee for the Ministry of Education, has declared his net worth at Ksh790 million.
While appearing before the National Assembly Appointments Committee vetting persons nominated for Cabinet Secretary positions by President William Ruto, Migosi revealed that the amount comprises "land, tea, trees, vehicles, farm equipment, and my law firm."
Migosi is a legal professional with over 25 years of experience and is set to lead the Ministry of Education, taking over from Ezekiel Machogu, should he be approved for appointment.
His extensive legal career includes roles as a Senior Partner at Migosi-Ogamba & Waudo Advocates and Chairman of the Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen).

He was responsible for guiding the board in delivering insights and governance to guarantee that the electricity producer remained a viable company.

He was born on April 13, 1959, in Nyaribari, Masaba, Kenya and brought up in a poor household in Kisii County’s lush green hills, where he had an early knack for learning and a strong desire for justice.

The 65-year-old had graduated from the University of Nairobi with a Bachelor of Laws degree. Further, his quest for education and specialization in legal practice led him to the University of London’s Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, where he received a Diploma in Law.
In addition to his skills, he earned a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. This extensive educational background established the groundwork for his distinguished career in law and public service.
Ogamba’s career spans three decades and includes important contributions to Kenya’s legal and corporate sectors.
He began his professional career in the legal field, where his abilities and determination swiftly garnered him respect. As a Commissioner for Oaths and Notary Public, he played an important part in several court procedures by giving advice and representation.
His legal expertise and innovative leadership have proven invaluable in several high-profile trials and corporate governance responsibilities.
In addition to his work at KenGen, Migosi has made important contributions to the banking, finance, manufacturing, oil, gas, natural energy, and real estate industries. His legal expertise, coupled with a practical understanding of corporate governance, has made him a sought-after counsellor and leader.
It is worth noting that he was a running mate to his predecessor, Machogu, who was defeated in the 2022 general elections while vying for the Kisii gubernatorial seat. He picked Ogamba as his running mate for the gubernatorial race on the UDA party ticket but lost it to the current governor Simba Arati.
However, Migosi had vied for the Kitutu Chache North parliamentary seat during the 2017 general elections on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket but lost it to Jimmy Angwenyi.
