Bodo, who was before this serving as the Director of Air Services in the Ministry of Transport, takes over from Henry Ogoye

The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) Board has announced leadership changes, appointing Nicholas Bodo as its acting Managing Director with immediate effect.
Bodo, who was before this serving as the Director of Air Services in the Ministry of Transport, takes over from Henry Ogoye and will be expected to oversee the management of airports countrywide going forward.
Speaking to Viral Tea, an official at KAA revealed that Ogoye was moved back to his position as its Head of Corporate Planning and Strategy.
"On 24th December, 2024 KAA Re-advertised the recruitment of the Managing Director/CEO. In the interim period, and to ensure a smooth transition, the Board has appointed Mr. Nicholas Bodo as Acting Managing Director, effective Immediately.
"He will be in office until a substantive Managing Director/CEO is appointed," an internal memo to all KAA employees read in part on December 31, 2024.
KAA chairman Caleb Kositany hailed Bodo as an individual with a wealth of experience, in all matters of Aviation.
Bodo also worked as the acting Director-General of the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA), a position he was appointed to in April 2022 after a court blocked the appointment of Emile Nguza Arao on abuse of office and financial misappropriation allegations.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Osmania University, India and a Master of Business Administration from Laikipia University. He is a Certified Public Secretary (K) and holds a Graduate Diploma in Aviation Management from the National University of Singapore and the Singapore Aviation Academy and a Certificate in Air Law from the Egyptian Aviation Academy.
Bodo started his career as an Administrator as an Assistant Secretary III and rose through the ranks to Senior Assistant Secretary before changing professions to become Chief Air Transport Officer.
Ogoye meanwhile was appointed Acting MD at KAA by Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, then at the Ministry of Transport, on August 26, 2023, after he terminated the contract of former boss Alex Gitari.
Murkomen announced the changes after visiting the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), which experienced a power outage the previous night.
According to his profile published by the International Quality & Productivity Centre (IQPC) Middle East, Okoye joined KAA in 2006. IQPC is a global business website which profiles entrepreneurs and tech professionals.
In his post as head of Cooperate planning, the acting MD was tasked with coordinating the strategic planning of the organisation, which helped the management of the KAA make key decisions over its operations.
He was also mandated with monitoring traffic information and handling corporate research.
