Her family revealed their missing kin was with her boyfriend, Joseph Philip Orwa, on Saturday, January 4, whom she had been dating for over eight years. Investigations revealed that Tokesi stayed with the suspect until the said date when she was reported missing mysteriously.

As part of the investigations, detectives raided the suspect's house in Ongata Rongai and recovered several exhibits, which they believe will be instrumental in unravelling the details of the murder. In their search, a love letter that was found revealed that the two had a strained relationship which might be the reason behind the murder.
A manhunt for Orwa is since underway, with law enforcement urging anyone with information on his whereabouts to come forward. The family called on the investigative agencies to hasten their probe and arrest the prime suspect.
"We are waiting for the DCI to come out to expedite the process, to let us know, what really happened," the family appealed.

After a long and fruitless search, relatives were informed of a body suspected to be of their missing kin. Detectives had stumbled upon a mutilated body and invited members of the family who positively identified her clothes at the scene of the murder.
Investigations into her disappearance and subsequent murder were launched and a DNA test was expected to be carried out to ascertain the identity of the body.
"The state of the body was so bad. You couldn't really identify it. It was missing some parts. It was found in a thicket," Daniel Shikoli, the brother to Tokesi, told the press, adding "We're waiting for the DNA tests to know if that body is Lydia's. After that, we'll get to know what happened."
Meanwhile, in the wake of Tokesi's demise, friends and family opened up about her strained relationship with her long-term boyfriend, Orwa. They disclosed that the lovebirds had been experiencing significant challenges in their eight-year relationship, with recent signs of tension and mistrust.
Tokesi had recently confided in her friends that she was feeling increasingly unhappy in the relationship but had not taken any definitive steps to leave. She, at the time of her demise, was working as a customer service experience officer at Kasha Technologies.
