UPDATE: Khwisero Member of Parliament (MP) Christopher Aseka Wangaya denied reports that he was embroiled in a confrontation with Kisa East MCA, Stephen Maloba, who was stabbed to death, adding that the clash did not occur at his meeting venue.

He further dismissed reports that Maloba attended a public participation meeting organised by his office at the Munjiti area of Kisa East Ward.

"To this end, it is paramount to report that the unfortunate death of Maloba did not take place at the venue of my meeting, neither did he attend the meeting as purported by a section of social media users. I have this afternoon recorded a statement with the Criminal Investigation Department for further urgent investigations into the matter," Aseka stated.

He eulogised the MCA, stating that they worked closely serving Khwisero residents, and also condemned the violence, maintaining that it should never be used to settle political scores.

Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula has announced the death of Kisa East MCA, Stephen Maloba.

Speaking while addressing residents at Malava, Kakamega, at Faruk Kibet's thanksgiving ceremony where Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi are in attendance, Savula alleged that Maloba was stabbed after a confrontation with a Member of Parliament (MP).

"We would like to stay here longer, but we can't. Apologies for that. An MCA has just passed away in Khwisero Constituency.

"He was stabbed after a confrontation ensued between two camps, his and that of an MP," he said.

Maloba, who was voted on a KANU ticket, died after a brawl ensued between supporters of the two camps.

Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale condemned the incident, adding that he was killed due to political squabbles.

"I was in a good mood, but that ruined it. The young man they killed was in my house for breakfast the other day. He was to vie on UDA, but he joined KANU and won.

"They have killed him. I am going there to console them and not to cause more chaos," he weighed in.

Khalwale and Savula further announced that they would accompany Kakamega governor, Fernandes Barasa, to the funeral even as the legislators did not reveal what caused the altercation resulting in the MCA's death.

"Apologies to my Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, our guest of honour today. Allow us to rush," Khalwale pleaded.

In the meantime, police were yet to issue a statement on the incident, the scuffle reportedly with people believed to have links with Khwisero MP Christopher Aseka.
