Miguna Miguna Gives Update On Ruto Lifting Red Alerts

Exiled lawyer, Miguna Miguna, has said that he is yet to receive confirmation that the red alerts issued against him, preventing his return to Kenya, have been lifted.

In a statement on Wednesday, September 14, Miguna affirmed that the red alerts that were issued against him by former President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration are still active and as a result, he cannot board a return flight to Kenya.

Miguna was responding to numerous questions by Kenyans seeking to find out when he would be coming back to Kenya, but he did promise that he will issue updates on the matter.

“Fellow Kenyans, please go easy on your trolling habits.

"To answer your incessant questions, I have not received confirmation that President William Ruto has lifted the red alerts Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga imposed against me. I'll update you if I do,” he stated.

Miguna's statement did not match the one he issued on Tuesday, September 13 after the swearing-in of President William Ruto where the Head of State was to assure him that the red alerts would be lifted the following day.

"I'm happy to announce that President William Ruto has assured me that the red alerts will be lifted on Wednesday, September 14, 2022.

"Thereafter, I will have my Kenyan Passport renewed and I'll announce the date of my return to my motherland," Miguna stated.

Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua on Wednesday, August 17 noted that Miguna was wrongfully punished for his defiance of the current administration.

"Miguna should start packing his bags because he did not do any wrong. It's because he differed with a few leaders and hence was shown the door.

"Wherever he is, I'd tell him to be patient and as soon as the president-elect is sworn in, he should book a flight," Gachagua stated.

Miguna had offered hope to his followers about his return to the country from exile but stated that three conditions must be met before he even books a return flight to Kenya.

First, William Ruto must be sworn in as Kenya's fifth president before he reenters the Kenyan territory, which took place on Tuesday.

Second and third, the red alerts against him must be lifted and his Kenyan passport renewed- indicating that he had packed his bags in readiness for the journey which takes approximately 15 hours.

"Five Executive Orders President William Ruto should issue: lift the red alerts against Miguna Miguna, appoint the six judges, order a judicial Inquiry into state capture, return port operations to Mombasa and block Matiang'i, Kibicho, Mucheru, Chiloba and Kinoti from fleeing," Miguna issued further instructions on Wednesday.
