He was part of Kenya’s third contingent to the MSS in Haiti, where he had been deployed after years of service in Narok and Baringo counties.
On Monday, September 1, MSS personnel from Kenya, the Bahamas, Jamaica, El Salvador, and Guatemala joined colleagues from partner organizations DMG, Amentum, Aspen, and GardaWorld in a memorial service at the mission’s main dining facility in LSA1.
His remains were later flown to the Dominican Republic for preservation ahead of repatriation to Kenya.
In a statement, the MSS expressed gratitude to first responders—including the Haitian National Police (PNH), the Forces Armées d’Haïti (FAd’H), local residents, and MSS officers—for their swift action in evacuating the injured. Several others hurt in the crash were reported to be out of danger.
"From all of us at MSS-Haiti, our thoughts and prayers are with Corporal Nzuve’s family, friends, and colleagues as they grieve this profound loss. We also wish a speedy recovery to those injured, who are thankfully out of danger," a statement from MSS read in part, while extending its condolences to his family.
"May the soul of Corporal Kennedy Mutuku Nzuve rest in eternal peace."
''Deeply saddened by the news of the loss of Corporal Kennedy Mutuku Nzuve, a member of Kenya’s deployment in the MSSM Haiti. We condole with the entire deployment under Commander Godfrey Otunge as well as Corporal Mutuku’s family. May his supreme sacrifice contribute to a more peaceful Haiti," Sing'Oei shared.
National Police Service spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga confirmed that the officer’s family has been informed of the incident.
He added that the MSS, in collaboration with the Haitian National Police, is overseeing arrangements to have the officer’s remains repatriated to Kenya.
