Police Looking For Club Owner Who Shot Ida Odinga's Bodyguard
The police identified Okundi as the assailant who gunned down their colleague, Barack Oduor, and escaped with the firearm he stole from the deceased officer.

The National Police Service (NPS) has urged Kenyans to be on the lookout for Collins Okundi, a manager of a popular club in Kisumu County who shot dead Ida Odinga's bodyguard.
The police identified Okundi as the assailant who gunned down their colleague, Barack Oduor, and escaped with the firearm he stole from the deceased officer.
While revealing that they are pursuing the suspect, the police warned Kenyans to be careful while spotting the suspect as he is armed and dangerous. They have been advised to report him at any nearby police station or reach out to the command centre via emergency hotlines, including the anonymous Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) hotline.
"The incident is under active investigation. The assailant, identified as Collins Okundi, who’s on the run is being pursued. He escaped with the killer firearm that he robbed from the slain officer. A second victim also shot by the assailant is in a local hospital receiving treatment.
"As we appeal for information to aid in his arrest, members of the public are equally cautioned to treat the suspect as armed and dangerous," the NPS stated in part.
Information may be shared with the police by reporting to the nearest law enforcement officers or through toll-free numbers 999,911,112 or #fichuakwaDCI 0800722203.
An initial police report by Marilyn Marion Ouma a resident of Victoria Gardens Estate revealed that she left a bar in the company of her friend and the deceased officer before Okundi cornered them during a scuffle.
In the process, Okundi disarmed the police officer and fatally shot him twice in the head and leg. The other man was shot in the leg and was rushed to Aga khan Hospital Kisumu and is in stable condition.
Kisumu County Police Commander Alphonce Kimathi noted that Oduor was shot in Riat by the suspect while heading home after a night of merry-making.
Oduor's body has since been moved to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital.
"Yes, we have information of his being shot dead. We do not have further information as of now," said Odinga's spokesperson Dennis Onyango to the Nation.
Detectives assigned to the case launched a manhunt for the suspect after he escaped the scene.
Reports had also indicated that the wife of the former Prime Minister and Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga was safe.
