Police have identified the suspect in yet another murder of a patient inside one of the wards of the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).

This was reported by Citizen TV on Thursday, July 17, with the suspect identified using CCTV footage. However, details regarding the facial identity as well as the name of the suspect are yet to be revealed by the time of publishing this story.

In a surprise circumstance, police claim that the suspect is the same individual behind the murder of 39-year-old Gilbert Kinyua in February this year.

Police have also recovered the murder weapon at the ground level near the security office. This development comes moments after KNH confirmed that the patient was found "in a medical ward in blood-soaked beddings."

"We are deeply saddened to confirm an incident regarding the tragic death of a patient at Kenyatta National Hospital. On the afternoon of 17th July 2025, at around 2 pm, immediately after visiting hours, a patient was discovered in a medical ward in blood-soaked beddings. The patient was examined and certified dead," the statement by KNH CEO William Sigilai read in part.

"The matter has since been reported to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and other government security agencies. Our thoughts and prayers are with the patient's family during this difficult time."

The latest murder has raised serious concerns regarding the security of patients admitted at the country's largest referral hospital. The 52-year-old man, who was reportedly physically disabled, was discovered dead on his bed in Ward Seven, according to witnesses.

Security agencies, spearheaded by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), have stationed officers at the hospital to establish the circumstances surrounding the patient’s death and identify those accountable.
