In the same morning, an oil tanker was involved in a multiple-car crash along Thika Road near Thika Town at Blue Post Hotel.
Police in photos KeNHA shared were deployed to the scene to rescue the victims of the crash.
The tanker was seen to have collided with a lorry and pushed it to the roadside. Oil was spilt from the tanker along the busy road, with part of the chassis of the vehicle hanging on it.
Other car parts were scattered along the road with some having fallen into Chania Falls. The parts had blocked the normal flow of traffic along the road.
