Azimio la Umoja leader, Raila Odinga has accused President William Ruto's close allies of misadvising him on various issues that have led to the sharp increase of taxes across the country.

Speaking in Nyamira County during an ODM's leaders' and stakeholders' engagement forum on Monday, November 27, Raila claimed that Ruto was elected in August 2022 without a proper understanding of the nature of the job bestowed upon him by the people of Kenya.

Raila also called out the government for its insatiable appetite for introducing new taxes and turning to global financial institutions for loans to service pending debt.

"He lacks skills. We have gone back to where we are. This person (Ruto) has no idea what he is doing, he told to increase taxes and he does," Raila remarked.

Raila also claimed that Ruto has been responsible for running down the government and its institutions since taking power in September 2022, opining that the President would not achieve anything even if he is in power for a century (100 years).

"The situation is deteriorating, even if you give William Ruto 100 years, he won't bring about any changes, and there is nowhere he is going because he is surrounded by thieves,” Raila added.

Raila also claimed that Ruto's government has been cursed for allegedly stealing his victory in the 2022 elections, revealing his plans to pounce should it fall at the slightest opportunity.

“This Ruto administration anything they hold is rotting because they are cursed by the Almighty God. They stole my victory, swallowed it, and it got stuck in their throats. We are just waiting for them to fall,” said Raila.

Commenting on the recently released Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results, the former Prime Minister chided the inaccuracies in the results and claimed that they showed a sign of the government's incompetence.

"Have you seen how the exam was? It has become even worse. Our children are facing difficulties.

"How can students in one class get the same grade in a subject? It is a big shame,” the Azimio leader continued.

Nonetheless, Raila drummed up support for his Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ahead of its resurgence in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
