President William Ruto has now said Kenya will not experience El Nino rains as earlier predicted by the Kenya Meteorological Department.
Addressing a congregation during a church service in Riruta, Nairobi on Sunday, October 22, the Head of State revealed that meteorologists had reversed their previous projections of El Nino rains expected to hit the country.
Instead, the rains were scaled down to the significant rains, adding that the same is good for agriculture. However, with the short rains coupled with a downpour, farmers can look forward to producing more which will cushion the country from food shortages and escalating prices of food products.

"We heard reports that the country will experience El Nino rains, which have the potential to destroy property. But God has been faithful," the President explained.
"We have now heard the meteorologists saying that will no longer be the case. We will just have heavy rains. We thank God."
Ruto attributed the change of pattern to his administration's belief in God and prayer conducted at the Nyayo Stadium.
"There are those who criticised us when we prayed for rains at Nyayo stadium. They said a whole president is praying for rain. Now see, we have more rains than we have had in four years, that is God's doing," he added.
In a previous projection, Kenya Met predicted that rainfall was expected to continue over several parts of the country between Tuesday, October 17 and Monday, October 23.
Furthermore, isolated storms were likely to occur in some areas including the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, North-Eastern and North-western Kenya.
The department also revealed that High average daytime (maximum) temperatures of more than 30 degrees Celsius were expected over several parts of the country including the Coast, North-Eastern and North-Western Kenya.
"A few areas in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands and the Rift Valley will experience low average night-time (minimum) temperatures of less than 10 degrees Celsius," the update read in part.
Plans were in top gear to mitigate the impact of El-Nino rains that were predicted to hit Kenya from mid-October with relevant government agencies, Ministries and county governments conveying that they were prepared for the same.
