Former President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is the Jubilee Party leader, has called for a special National Delegates Conference.

A notice by the party dated Friday, April 28 revealed that the meeting will take place at Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi on Monday, May 22, 2023.

"Pursuant to Articles 8.1 and 10.1 of the Jubilee Party Constitution, notice is hereby issued for a Special National Delegates Convention to be held on the 22nd of May 2023," Uhuru stated in part.

Among the meeting's agenda is to review party policies, which had led to a row between two factions, one allied to Uhuru and the other, to President William Ruto.

The delegates will also formulate party policies which will be expected to form part of the Jubilee Party constitution in the near future.

The NDC will also receive a status report from the National Executive Committee as well as consider and approve any other matters.

Jubilee Party National Delegates Conference will also approve new party policies in a bid to quell the tension within the top leadership.

The meeting will also see Uhuru expected to make changes to the party's membership after a section of its officials ignored his warning to step down.

Uhuru, during his impromptu visit to Jubilee Party headquarters on Wednesday, April 26, challenged those members unhappy with the party's running of affairs to leave without causing havoc.

"Anybody who is free to leave a party can leave and go to another party. We have no quarrel with anyone. We want to guard our party and those who do not want, are free to leave.

"Let us maintain peace. Police officers have better things to do other than coming here to restore peace. Then we see people coming to cause chaos, we don't have any problems with anyone, we just want peace," he stated while condemning those seeking to cause chaos within the Jubilee party.

Nominated Member of Parliament Sabina Wanjiru Chege had compelled Uhuru and former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga to convene a meeting to examine the sacrifices she made for the sake of the party as well as her contributions to the Uhuru-led party under the Azimio la Umoja coalition.

She explained that she put aside her own political ambitions during the elections to popularise the outfit, whose ruling status came under threat from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party under President Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza coalition as a whole.

Amidst divisions between Jeremiah Kioni and EALA Member of Parliament (MP) Kanini Kega over the position of Secretary-General of the party, Sabina implored Uhuru to summon a meeting to iron out the issues affecting the Jubilee Party.

"So if something has happened, it is noble for our seniors to call us and have a chance to talk to us. I also want to appeal to our party leader, you are our leader and it is important that you call all of us together.

"It is important we give each other a chance, It is important we preserve this party, and pestering should stop," she urged.
