Liz Jackson, a journalist attached to Eddie Butita-owned Stage Presence Media (SPM) Buzz, has explained the intrigues behind a video of her interaction with Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary (CS) Alfred Mutua which trended across social media platforms on Thursday, November 10.

It all started when she posed a question to President William Ruto and his South African counterpart, Cyril Ramaphosa regarding foreign relations after the Kenyan president announced that Kenyans would travel to South Africa visa-free for 90 days a year.

"What will be put in place to ensure culture, art, and entertainment are made easy between the two countries? We love South Africa it has good sceneries, will it be easier to go shoot in South Africa?" she posed at the time.

Here is the video:

Ruto then responded to journalists at State House, but decided upon Liz first with "Maybe I should begin there with Liz..."

In an exclusive interview with Viral Tea, the sassy journalist revealed that her interesting question immediately drew the attention of the former Machakos Governor, who previously produced the popular show Cobra Squad.

She noted that no other journalist sent to cover the presser had posed a question to the two presidents on entertainment matters, which blew open a window of opportunity for her to take centre stage.

"He (Mutua) turned to look at who was asking the question because he was a filmmaker who did Beba Beba and Cobra Squad.

"He acknowledged my question. Nobody else asked about Entertainment," she revealed.

Liz added that following the media address, Mutua met the rest of the SPM Buzz media team and her on the sidelines and requested an interview, which was featured in the video that went viral online. At the time of publishing, it was viewed over 112,400 times on Twitter and over 1.2 million times on TikTok.

"Thereafter he said hello to the whole media team, just that the rest were not recorded. I asked if we could do an exclusive interview and he shared his number with us," she added, further dismissing speculations ignited by Kenyans On Twitter (KOT) that Mutua seemingly found a new catch.

Liz has worked at SPM Buzz for nine months now as a host of the Buzz With Stars shows. She also hosts red-carpet events and heads the media house's Digital department.

"It’s great. I never imagined that I would be doing government events with the fact that I have zero background in journalism," she described her experience at the media house owned by comedian Eddie Butita.

She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Project Management from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), where she graduated on June 28, 2022. Other than being a digital strategist, she also describes herself as a model who has featured in several music videos.

Relying on referrals, she explained in a recent interview with the Nation that she began her journey as an actress when she appeared in films such as Hullaballoo Estate and Anda Kava on Maisha Magic as well as working on a few clips with Njugush Creatives.

She is also a Lifestyle and Travel Content creator with her own YouTube channel which captures her documenting her expeditions to the Coast, Maasai Mara, and Wajir among others.

In a past interview, she revealed that she moved to Nairobi in Class Two having grown up in the village. She dreamt of being a pilot and was in the aviation club at Pangani Girls High School before she dove into project planning which was flexible enough for her to focus on her content creation.
