The suspect is currently being held at Mtwapa Police Station pending arraignment. The recovered items have been secured as exhibits.
Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt for the two remaining suspects, following critical leads as part of ongoing investigations.
"Police are following crucial leads and are in hot pursuit of the two remaining suspects. The National Police Service extends its gratitude to the members of the public for their invaluable information in combating crime," a report by the National Police Service (NPS) reads in part.
A taser is an electroshock weapon used by law enforcement officers and security personnel to temporarily incapacitate a person. It works by delivering an electric shock that disrupts voluntary control of muscles, effectively immobilising the target for a short period.
Typically, a taser fires two small, dart-like electrodes connected to the main device by conductive wires. When the electrodes attach to the person’s body or clothing, the taser sends a high-voltage, low-current electrical charge that interferes with the body’s neuromuscular system, causing temporary paralysis or loss of control.
Tasers are commonly used as a non-lethal alternative to firearms, especially in situations where controlling a suspect without inflicting long-term harm is preferred. They are often employed during arrests, crowd control operations, or to subdue violent individuals. However, misuse or excessive deployment can pose serious health risks.
Meanwhile, on Monday, July 14, police officers from Gatuanyaga Police Post conducted a targeted operation at Nexus Club in Gatuanyaga, following intelligence reports from members of the public.
During the raid, four suspects were apprehended in connection with a robbery with violence incident reported on 11 July 2025. The operation also led to the recovery of a Browning pistol and a blue Ranger motorcycle, both suspected to have been used in the commission of the crime.
The suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue. They are expected to be arraigned in court upon completion of processing.
