“We thank God because we have waited for our results for a very long time, almost two weeks,” the school’s Principal, Dinah Cheruiyot, remarked, adding “We had sleepless nights, but finally, as a school, we received our results yesterday, and the girls have done very well.”
The release of their results, after a long wait, was met with cheers and excitement as the students celebrated their academic achievements. Photos seen by Viral Tea captured the vibrant scenes of celebration in the town.
The move to withhold the results was unexpected for the Lugulu Girls’, a school renowned for its excellent academic performance. Cheruiyot along with the teaching staff had called for patience from the 2024 KCSE candidates and their parents.
“Dear Parent/Guardian, we are aware that your child has not yet received their examination results. Please rest assured that the matter is being addressed, and the results will be made available to you in due time.
"Further communication will follow. Thank you for your patience and understanding,” read a letter signed by Western Region Director of Education Jared Obiero.
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba, while releasing the 2024 KCSE exam results at the Mitihani House in Nairobi during an event, revealed that results for 2,829 candidates were withheld pending completion of investigations over malpractices.
91 teachers were revealed to be facing disciplinary action over malpractices. The total number of examination results cancelled for irregularities was 840.
Lugulu was among the schools affected by the withholding of results. Others are St. Peter’s Abwao Secondary School in Migori County, which had previously emerged as a top performer in the region.
