The same accident led to the injuries of six officers, who are currently receiving treatment.

Karare residents had quickly rushed to the scene of the crash to aid the KDF soldiers who survived the accident.

A photo seen by Viral Tea showed KDF officers in the waiting area of Marsabit County Referal Hospital concerned about the welfare of their injured colleagues.

It was not immediately clear what caused the accident of the KDF Landcruiser vehicle in an area prone to banditry attacks.

The accident comes days after at least two Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers were killed as they responded to a morning attack targeting a General Service Unit (GSU) team in Lamu.

At least 10 GSU officers were earlier injured when an armoured personnel carrier (APC) vehicle they were in ran over an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

Chief strategic communication head Brig. Zipporah Kioko confirmed the death of the two soldiers, adding that the wounded were airlifted for medical attention. A response team from KDF was also ambushed in the attack leaving dozens injured.

Another accident involving security officers occurred on Wednesday, June 21 whereby two members of President William Ruto's escort team sustained injuries after their black Lexus 570 rolled around the Great Rift Valley Lodge in Naivasha, Nakuru County.

According to multiple reports, the driver of the Lexus presidential motorcade vehicle had lost control at the Mlima Nugu area along the Moi South Lake road while trying to navigate a sharp bend along the route.

The driver was unconscious when rescue teams arrived at the scene and was immediately rushed to hospital, alongside his co-injured.

The senior officer indicated that it was not immediately clear what caused the Wednesday afternoon accident.
