DCI Have Surrounded Gachagua's Homes: Lawyer
The matter has attracted the attention of Wiper Party Leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, who urged President William Ruto to arrest Gachagua in adherence to the law...if he wanted to do so.

Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have reportedly pitched camp outside the homes of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in Nairobi and Nyeri County.
Gachagua's lawyer, Ndegwa Njiru, took to X on Sunday, May 18, to notify major media houses that the DCI reportedly took control of the Karen and Wamunyoro residences.
"To all media houses, kindly be informed that the DCI has taken hostage of all HE Rigathi Gachagua’s both at Karen and at Wamunyoro. They are currently man-hunting him. We are yet to be informed of the reason," he wrote.

Kalonzo also assured his followers on X that his team is ready to produce Gachagua before the investigative agency.
"This intimidation of the Opposition must stop. Mr Ruto, if you want to arrest Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, do it the right way; follow the law," he stated, adding "We are prepared to produce DP Gachagua before the DCI. Please stop abducting Kenyans and their leaders. Abductions are primitive and cowardly."
Photos that earlier went viral on social media and seen by Viral Tea showed Subaru Forester vehicles and a police vehicle barricading a road amidst a reported intent to arrest the second in command.
Amidst the developments, Laikipia Senator John Methu narrowly avoided arrest on the same day after police officers, allegedly in unmarked Subaru vehicles, were deployed to detain him over remarks deemed inciteful during a political rally.
Earlier that day, Methu had joined Gachagua at a public event where both leaders harshly criticised President Ruto’s government. They also issued a strong warning against any attempts to rig the 2027 elections—comments authorities claim could spark public unrest.
As the situation escalated, Methu reportedly ditched his official convoy and made a dramatic escape by hopping onto a pickup truck loaded with avocados, throwing off the pursuing officers. He was later dropped off near Thika town and is believed to have used alternative transport to avoid being caught.
Amid rising concern from his supporters, the senator later posted on his social media accounts to confirm he was safe.
"Thank you all for your concern. I am safe. If you are the one who ferried a man with a black jacket and black hat while driving a pickup full of avocados and dropped him at Del View, be blessed. Those Subarus were bad news," he wrote.
DCI is yet to issue an official statement on the matter. Gachagua is also yet to comment on the developments that could reportedly culminate in his arrest over what the State considers to be inciteful comments, which could lead the country into civil strife.
Recently, he warned that if President Ruto's government tries to rig the 2027 elections, it could throw the country into turmoil.
"With the mood in the country, if that IEBC tries to mess with the elections, there will be no country here, I want to tell you that 2007 will look like a Christmas party," the former DP claimed during an interview with Obinna TV.
"I want to tell those commissioners to be Kenyans and to be patriotic, and not to attempt to force William Ruto on the people of Kenya. It will not work. The people of Kenya will not accept it, people want change, and they are ready for change."
Gachagua would later clarify that he was only voicing what he heard on the ground, denying claims that he was inciting Kenyans to unrest.
