Oscar Sudi Fires Back At Gachagua Over 2007 Post-Election Violence Remarks
Sudi warned Gachagua against stirring up tensions with what he described as "careless" and "reckless" comments on the sensitive issue.

Kapseret Member of Parliament (MP) Oscar Sudi has called out former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for making controversial remarks about the 2007/2008 post-election violence.
In a short video posted on Saturday morning, May 17, Sudi warned Gachagua against stirring up tensions with what he described as "careless" and "reckless" comments on the sensitive issue.
Sudi acknowledged that while freedom of speech is a right for all Kenyans—including Gachagua—it shouldn’t be misused to spark divisive or unethical dialogue, especially about painful national history.
He went further to say that Gachagua’s irresponsible and inflammatory statements only served to reinforce why the Senate had valid grounds to impeach him last year.
The mood in the country is that if the IEBC tries to mess with the 2027 elections, there will be no country here. 2007 will look like a Christmas party- Rigathi Gachagua pic.twitter.com/TEVKAg9noF — Viral Tea Ke (@ViralTeaKe) May 17, 2025
"Please, do not talk about 2007/2008, it seems you do not know what you are saying. Our people suffered what has never been witnessed," Sudi warned.
"Ask for votes, criticise all government officials, but do not engage in 2007/2008 conversation. You are becoming too reckless, you are not a leader. That is why you are a half-term DP."
Sudi urged Gachagua to watch his words, reminding him that the 2007 post-election crisis deeply affected many Kenyans, some of whom are still dealing with the trauma.
His remarks came shortly after the former Deputy President warned that if President William Ruto's government tries to rig the 2027 elections, it could throw the country into turmoil.
Gachagua made the statement during a May 16 interview on Obinna TV, claiming that the violence in 2027 would be even more severe than what happened in 2007.
"With the mood in the country, if that IEBC tries to mess with the elections, there will be no country here, I want to tell you that 2007 will look like a Christmas party," the former DP claimed.
"I want to tell those commissioners to be Kenyans and to be patriotic, and not to attempt to force William Ruto on the people of Kenya. It will not work. The people of Kenya will not accept it, people want change, and they are ready for change."
