Former President Uhuru Kenyatta was reported to have flown out of the country hours after he handed over power to his former junior, William Ruto, on Tuesday, September 13.

The former Head of State who spent two terms (10 years) in power, flew out of the country on a holiday as he thought about his next course of action.

One of his allies revealed to the Nation on Saturday, October 1 that the trip was necessary for Uhuru so that he could relax his mind following the outcome of the August 9 elections.

He was revealed to have retreated to a reclusive destination, although his ally did not disclose where he flew off to.

His ally also did not reveal whether or not Uhuru travelled with his family and confidants while maintaining his low profile during his vacation.

After a week-long of relaxation, the former president flew back into the country privately, without drawing any media attention.

Uhuru was additionally revealed to have skipped a thanksgiving party organised by Azimio la Umoja Presidential candidate Raila Odinga at Safari Park on Thursday, September 29.

"Kenyatta skipped to avoid creating a perception that he is still in a campaign mood," the ally disclosed.

It was also revealed that he was keen on meeting President Ruto who had appointed him as Kenya's special envoy to Ethiopia and DRC. A member of Ruto's team was sent a couple of days ago to meet him for unspecified reasons.

The thanksgiving party saw Raila congratulate the Azimio Secretariat for how they executed his campaign, even though he lost to Ruto at the end of it all.

Uhuru also missed the Azimio la Umoja Parliamentary Group meeting, held in Athi River on September 16 which was attended by top Azimio principals, including Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and his Narc Kenya counterpart Martha Karua among others.

Raila also joined in, having attended the swearing-in ceremony of Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir on Thursday, September 15, hours after he returned to the country from Zanzibar.

Uhuru had last attended an Azimio meeting at Masai Lodge parliamentary group meeting in Kajiado county whereby the coalition strategised on leadership roles in the National Assembly and the Senate.

Before that, he paid a visit to Raila's home in Karen alongside his son, Jomo Kenyatta, as the former Prime Minister was nursing injuries from hurting his face in a treadmill accident.
