Kenya will host the third edition of the Forbes 30 Under 30 Africa Summit later this year.

This was announced by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Tuesday, April 25, who met the organisers when he travelled to Gaborone, Botswana, where the second edition was held.

He expressed his gratitude to the organisers for honouring his request and assured them that Kenya would deliver in the continental event.

"I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the organisers and the great team behind the Forbes 30 Under 30 Africa Summit that is taking place in Gaborone, Botswana, for accepting Kenya's request to host the Third Edition of the prestigious event later this year.

"I would like to assure the team of Randall Lane, the Chief Content Officer of Forbes Media and Editor of Forbes Magazine, Julius Mwale, industrial entrepreneur, investor and Principal of Mwale Medical and Technology City (MMTC), Shivish Soni of Sun Group, among other players with whom I had a fruitful engagement this morning that Kenya will deliver," he stated in part.

Gachagua, who was in the company of his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, further indicated that the summit would provide an opportunity for Kenyan youth running businesses to showcase their skills and craft as the summit shines a spotlight on young entrepreneurs.

"It will be an honour for our country to host this accolade, which recognises the best of the best in youth entrepreneurship.

"Entrepreneurship opportunities are infinite, especially in the digital age. Besides putting Kenya on the world map as a leading tourism destination, the thousands of vibrant, tech-savvy youth of our country will be exposed to learning from each other why they are the solution to the socio-economic challenges in Kenya and the globe," he added.

The Deputy President further revealed that hosting the event would put Kenya on the world map and expose its youth to learning from international experts.

He also revealed that the event would market Kenya as a leading tourist destination since a lot of the delegates would be staying in the country.

"It will also be a huge motivation. Getting to be a thought leader in the industry requires no magic, but hard work, determination and keeping an eye on the ball," Gachagua added.

Forbes 30 Under 30 is an accolade that shines the spotlight on successful entrepreneurs below the age of 30. Launched in 2011 in the United States (US) by Forbes Magazine, the Summit has extended to other continents as a premier platform showcasing youth entrepreneurship.

Forbes Africa 30 under 30 was launched in 2014 and has since become a platform for young Africans to showcase their exceptional skills, talents, and accomplishments.

The list features individuals from various fields, including technology, media, entertainment, finance, and sports and is compiled by a panel of judges who assess candidates based on their achievements, innovation, and potential to impact the African continent positively.

The list includes individuals from various countries, highlighting Africa's rich cultural and entrepreneurial diversity. The list is also gender-inclusive, with male and female entrepreneurs recognized for their achievements.

The Forbes Africa 30 under 30 list has become one of the most prestigious lists in Africa, with many young people aspiring to be included in it, and this year, that aspiration has turned into reality for a few trendsetting Africans.

Gachagua was among the keynote speakers and attendees of the second edition of the summit in Botswana alongside musicians Davido and Sauti Sol.
