NPS Announces 11th-Hour Change In Nairobi Police Recruitment Venue
The activity had initially been slated for Kamukunji Sports Grounds, but the NPS explained that ongoing construction at the site forced the relocation.
The National Police Service (NPS) has issued a minor venue adjustment for candidates set to participate in the recruitment exercise resuming on Monday, November 17.
In a notice released Sunday, the NPS announced that applicants assigned to Centre No. 408 in Kamukunji Sub-County will now report to Morisson Primary School.
The activity had initially been slated for Kamukunji Sports Grounds, but the NPS explained that ongoing construction at the site forced the relocation.
According to the statement, "The original venue, located some two kilometres away, has been deemed unfit to conduct the recruitment due to ongoing construction works."

All other recruitment centres across the country remain unchanged as of Sunday, with the exercise scheduled to run from 8am to 5pm.
The recruitment plan was first revealed on October 31 following a widely shared NPS advert, but the process stalled after activist Eliud Matindi filed a petition challenging its legality. Conservatory orders were later lifted by Justice Bahati Mwamuye, enabling the process to proceed on November 17.
Prior to that, Inspector General Douglas Kanja had warned that prolonged delays would undermine national security and stall efforts to boost police numbers. Budget limitations have also prevented the service from hiring in recent cycles, leaving staff levels below target.
The NPS noted that applicants must meet set requirements, including being Kenyan citizens aged 18–28, possessing a valid ID, and having a minimum KCSE grade of D+ with at least a D+ in English or Kiswahili.
Candidates must also be medically and physically fit, with minimum height standards of 5 ft 8 in for men and 5 ft 3 in for women. Female applicants must not be pregnant during recruitment or training. Individuals with felony convictions or pending cases are barred, while qualified NYS graduates are encouraged to apply.
IG Kanja confirmed the exercise will be conducted in a single day across 427 centres nationwide. Speaking at Kiamariga Police Station in Nyeri on November 14 during an inspection after a fire incident, he underscored the significance of the exercise.
“To me, it is not just a new team of police officers but officers who have to come in and assist us and support us in the reform agenda because the police service is under transformation,” he said.
“I want to encourage the young men and women to troop into their recruitment centres starting from Monday. We will get the best from the republic, and I’m happy because we are not only recruiting young men; they are not only going to get a job, but we are getting a reformist team that is going to push the police service to the next level.”
