Gachagua Accuses Ruto Of Barring Protesters From Nairobi CBD To Allow Looting Of Businesses
Gachagua alleged that police had erected barriers along major roads such as Kiambu Road and Thika Road, intentionally

Former Deputy President and DCP Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua has alleged that the move to block thousands of protesters from streaming into the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) was so that the looting witnessed in the city could be carried out uninterrupted.
In a strongly worded statement, Gachagua alleged that police had erected barriers along major roads such as Kiambu Road and Thika Road intentionally, adding that no businesses were looted in those areas.
Furthermore, Gachagua alleged that in Nairobi, businesses belonging to individuals from a certain ethnic region were deliberately targeted for destruction.

"Mr. Ruto, you are well aware that under your instructions, Genuine Gen-Z protestors were blocked in their thousands on Kiambu road and Thika road, where no businesses were looted. Your police allowed goons into town at their expense to go and cause mayhem and place the blame on the GenZs.
"We have credible information that in Nairobi, especially the downtown region, businesses belonging to people from a certain region were clearly identified by officials from the County Government of Nairobi and elsewhere; this brutal exercise was led by politicians allied to this rogue regime," he said.
The former Deputy President's comments came just hours after Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen labelled the June 25 protests as acts of terrorism masked as public dissent and accused the demonstrators' financiers of plotting to overthrow the government.
"There was no peaceful demonstration. It was riots, chaos and anarchy, and therefore we condemn the criminal anarchists in the name of peaceful demonstrations, who unleashed a wave of violence, looting, sexual assault and destruction upon our people," Murkomen said.
Murkomen had claimed that hired thugs targeted police officers, attempted to seize weapons and uniforms from armouries, and successfully stole firearms from two police stations in Kiambu County.
In response, Gachagua fired back, criticising Murkomen’s statements as misleading and inflammatory, and accused the CS of spreading divisive rhetoric.
As Murkomen condemned political leaders who supported the June 25 protests, Gachagua took a different stance, criticising the government for relying on what he described as "outdated tactics."
"We have seen the CS for Interior pretentiously visiting shops that were looted by state-sponsored goons in an attempt to hide his guilt. Mr. Murkomen, Kenyans are not fools.
"We have listened to a misinformed statement from the CS Interior, Mr. Murkome,n profiling the Kikuyu Community that this protest was a Kikuyu Uprising. Yet the CS is well aware that the Gen-Zs were against corruption, extrajudicial killings, abductions and anarchy. This is not the first time this statement is coming from Kipchumba Murkomen. I wish to remind you that this community you are profiling, voted for you to a man and gave life to this regime," he added.
Further, Gachagua accused the government of deliberately switching off TV signals so as to allow goons to loot and destroy properties.
