The church’s presiding bishop denounced the incident, stating it was a clear violation of the right to worship freely. "We have freedom of worship in Kenya, and the Constitution guarantees that you can visit any part of the country," the Bishop stated.
Despite the chaos unfolding outside the main dais, the former Deputy President appeared unfazed, calmly seated and showing no reaction to the commotion.
There was no visible deployment from the National Police Service (NPS) during or after the incident—only Gachagua’s personal security team stepped in to handle the situation. The rowdy youth kept pushing forward, hurling objects and insults at the security detail of the former Mathira MP.
As of the time this story was published, NPS had not released any official statement regarding the incident.
Gachagua nonetheless addressed the congregation, with earlier speculation swirling that he would use the platform to respond to President William Ruto’s recent visit to the Mt. Kenya region.
This marks the second time one of Gachagua’s events has been disrupted—he was previously blocked from exiting the ACK Cathedral in Nyeri town on March 23 by another group of angry goons. Several people were reportedly injured in the chaos, though the exact number remains unconfirmed.
In another notable incident, Gachagua was forced to scamper for safety after chaos ensued during a burial ceremony in Limuru, Kiambu County, on November 28, 2024, which he attended.
During the incident, Gachagua's car was destroyed, with footage of the scene showing the former DP's black Toyota Land Cruiser's rear window smashed.
