TV47 and Radio 47 news anchor, political and parliamentary reporter, Elizabeth Mutuku, alias Lizah, held an exclusive party over the weekend to celebrate her graduation from St Paul's University, where she earned a degree in communication.

The occasion was graced by esteemed guests, including Members of Parliament like nominated senator Hamida Kibwana and Mwingi West lawmaker Charles Nguna as well as Digital Strategist, Dennis Itumbi.

Mutuku remarked that the academic milestone served as a testament to her hard work, discipline, sacrifice and grit, remarking that the journey to the degree qualification was not easy.

"It’s been a journey of great sacrifices, discipline, hard work, tears, and joy, but God has been there and super faithful," Mutuku stated on her social media pages.

The MPs, to top off the occasion, showered Lizah with wads of cash in support and as a show of admiration for her as she danced on her seat to Huyu Hapa by Mbosso in the background, while donning her graduation gown.

Lizah, expressing her gratitude, shared her sentiments on social media, stating, "This was epic, friendship came in handy, and these leaders made sure my small graduation dinner was, thank you so much."

"My friend Itumbi⁩ was also present at my small graduation dinner, thank you for the advice and of course the journey has just begun," she commended Itumbi.

Mutuku in 2022 shocked Kenyans when reports emerged that she was nominated by Wiper party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, to the Senate, a nomination that sadly did not materialise.

In an emotional message on Monday, October 17, 2022, she expressed her gratitude to the Wiper party who nominated her to the point of making it to the final shortlist.

"Having been in a volatile, sometimes treacherous political terrain, I fully know well someone’s name does not end up in a clogged list of a political party by accident. It takes painstaking deliberate effort and lobbying. I’m therefore honoured by the trust and confidence Wiper and Party leader bestowed in slotting my name," she wrote.

Despite her nomination not culminating in her swearing-in at the National Assembly to represent the youth, she expressed gratitude to Kalonzo who acted as a father figure in her life and cited his belief in growing the next generation of leaders amongst the youth to higher positions.

Since then, her rise has been astronomical, having previously held multiple roles as a broadcast journalist and reporter and a news anchor at ATG Radio where she worked for seven years, between 2014 and 2021. She would join TV47 in 2019.

Mutuku also holds an Associate's Degree in Broadcast Journalism from the Nairobi Aviation College and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication and Media Studies from St. Paul's University in Limuru.

She played a leading role in the presidential debate series and is an official of the Parliamentary Journalist’s Association.

On Tuesday, March 7, she was picked among an ensemble line-up of radio presenters for TV47's Swahili radio station, Radio 47.
