TV47 news anchor, political and parliamentary reporter, Elizabeth Mutuku, alias Lizah, has broken her silence after her nomination to the Senate by Wiper party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka failed to materialise.

In an emotional message on Monday, October 17, Mutuku expressed her gratitude to the Wiper party who nominated her to the point of making it to the final shortlist.

She added that it was not by chance that her name wound up on the list by the former Vice President, with a focus on party members from minority groups in the Senate and National Assembly.

"Having been in a volatile, sometimes treacherous political terrain, I fully know well someone’s name does not end up in a clogged list of a political party by accident.

"It takes painstaking deliberate effort and lobbying. I’m therefore honoured by the trust and confidence Wiper and Party leader bestowed in slotting my name," she wrote.

Despite her nomination not culminating in her swearing-in at the National Assembly to represent the youth, she expressed gratitude to Kalonzo who acted as a father figure in her life and cited his belief in growing the next generation of leaders amongst the youth to higher positions.

"I take to heart the invaluable lessons I have learnt in the political realm. I know how to conduct myself with decorum, to engage in robustly profitable politics devoid of mudslinging and name-calling.

"I know how to esteem others above me. I know how to reward loyalty and those who stake out for me. Those who make personal sacrifices and the ever-rewarding value there is in keeping family closer than close," she observed further.

Mutuku added that she had no bad blood against those who felt that she was too young or naive to represent the Wiper Party at the National Assembly, adding that there is an opportunity for everyone to break through, in whatever they pursue.

"The Party will navigate these contours and be able to stem such tides in the near future. With the able leadership of H.E. Dr SKM, the Party is destined for Greatness and unprecedented growth," she praised.

She promised to help the party to continue making contributions to make Kenya a great nation and that her counsel and input would be available whenever necessary.

Mutuku has held multiple roles as a broadcast journalist and reporter as well as a news anchor at ATG Radio where she worked for seven years, that is between 2014 and 2021.

She joined TV47 under Cape Media Limited, an affiliate of Mount Kenya University, in July 2019 where she rose to become one of the popular anchors of the current generation.

Mutuku holds an Associate's Degree in Broadcast Journalism from the Nairobi Aviation College and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication and Media Studies from St. Paul's University in Limuru.

She played a leading role in the presidential debate series and is an official of the Parliamentary Journalist’s Association.
